Fall Ball Week 3 Recap

Post date: Sep 25, 2017 3:23:29 PM

Both Fall Ball teams played this past week as they took advantage of this late September heat wave! The 13u Fall team swept their double Saturday against the Southern Tier Sluggers 11-0 and 10-2. Solid defense and multiple pick-offs at first and second helped the pitchers to hold the opposing team to just two runs in 14 innings of play. With their first official fall games under their belt, they look to continue their clean play and execution this Saturday in a doubleheader against Lancaster at 1:00 PM at McQuaid Jesuit High School.

Our Fall Showcase team had a very busy week as they were able to get three very competitive games in. After splitting the first two games against Monroe Community College earlier in the fall, they looked to win the three-game series last Wednesday. Unfortunately, after 16 hits and solid defense, MCC ended up winning 10-4. They then traveled to Syracuse on Saturday to play Onondaga Community College in a doubleheader. After dropping the first game, the team came together, made some adjustments, and started game two with a lot of energy and focus. Behind a 6 run fourth inning and solid pitching by Greece Athena 2021 grad Casey Saucke, the 'Canes went on to win 10-5. Ryan Hill and his consistent strike-throwing helped to secure the win. Big days by Drew Bailey, Tyler Griggs, and Hudson Bockmier helped to lead the offense. With a full week of practice, our Showcase team looks to continue to improve as we prepare for a doubleheader Sunday against the Northeast Twins.
